Shieldbug

Not had much time for photography of late, which is a shame as there is so much to photograph!

This interesting creature is a Forest Shieldbug, which hitched a ride on the outside of my car. When we arrived home he flew off onto the wooden fence, against which he was quite well camouflaged. I only managed a few shots before he flew off again, with a surprisingly loud hum.

Happy New Year! First post of the year, and hopefully the first of many, as I’ve got big plans for photography this year! Went to visit the ponies at Redgrave and Lopham Fen again yesterday, although they were so intent on grazing that they didn’t lift their heads to be photographed unfortunately.  I managed a couple of shots of them though. Both of the following shots are slightly cropped from the top, as at the time I included…

Down at the bottom of the garden there’s a chirping coming from the hedge, but it’s not a bird, it’s a Dark bush-cricket. The coast in winter, the roar of the sea, beauty and ferocity. Wind whipped sea foam sparkling in the weak sun, the fizz of waves pouring over pebbles. A twittering from small birds dashing away from the rising tide. I visited the most easterly point in the UK, Ness Point in Lowestoft, in search of…

What an absolute privilege to have these birds visiting the garden. I can’t believe after all these years I’ve finally managed to get some photos of one! I decided this afternoon to try photographing them, but I didn’t hold out much hope as they are nervous birds. I settled down, lying on the lawn covered…
