Shieldbug

Not had much time for photography of late, which is a shame as there is so much to photograph!

This interesting creature is a Forest Shieldbug, which hitched a ride on the outside of my car. When we arrived home he flew off onto the wooden fence, against which he was quite well camouflaged. I only managed a few shots before he flew off again, with a surprisingly loud hum.

What a privilege to have this bird visiting the garden. He was still around this weekend, and really feeding up before his long flight south. The slightly better weather meant I could get some more photos, although I’m yet to catch him in the sun. It’s not going to be long before he departs, but…

Over the Fen this morning, couldn’t resist photographing this little rabbit as he peeked out of his burrow at me. Sunshine and showers kept the Sedge and Reed warblers hiding low in the vegetation, but the Cuckoo was still singing away. Five Roe deer were very camera shy, only the rabbits would let me photograph…

Out in search of the Bearded tits again this morning. It was a frosty start and the fen was shrouded in mist. I walked along past the oaks, not a good year for acorns it seems and consequently there are very few Jay’s around. A small mottled brown bird darts silently out of a tree…

  • Sedge Warbler

Out on the Fen again this morning, a lovely sunny start, but a little frosty too. Starting to get there with the Sedge Warbler’s I think. They seemed a little quiet, perhaps because of the Cuckoo calling close by. Walking through the dew, with birds singing all around, I came across a Roe deer buck,…
