Shieldbug

Not had much time for photography of late, which is a shame as there is so much to photograph!

This interesting creature is a Forest Shieldbug, which hitched a ride on the outside of my car. When we arrived home he flew off onto the wooden fence, against which he was quite well camouflaged. I only managed a few shots before he flew off again, with a surprisingly loud hum.

Happy New Year to you all! Despite the grey weather today, I just had to get out with the camera – the reason? Well a lovely shiny new lens! Now the folks who know me will know I’m not that much of a ‘gear-head’ and I’m a firm believer in that it’s not what you’ve…

The 4×4 bounces along the rough rutted track, rounding a corner we spot the herd. 150 animals strong, they move through the pale dry grass and dust drifts in the air as one individual shakes out its coat. Out and about with my new camera yesterday. Decided to upgrade to the D300s, and I’m really impressed with it. Down by the river, Grey Herons, Little Egrets and Great…

Since my last post, I’ve been spending a lot of time down at the Fen which is teeming with wildlife at the moment. Hoards of Teal and Snipe can be found throughout the reserve, but I’ve been unsuccessful in photographing them. The Snipe are simply too well camouflaged, I’ve lost count of the number of…
