I’m Back!

Hello! Yes I’m back! Firstly I must apologise for my prolonged absence. The past few months have been incredibly hectic, and sadly I’ve had no time for photography. You see, on the 15th September, I married my partner of 10 years and love of my life Drew Mellowship. We had a truly wonderful day and we were overwhelmed by the love and support of our families, friends, and colleagues. Thank you all.

I can’t wait to get behind the camera once again, but for now, here are a few ‘holiday snaps’.

Just back from a week away in Dumfries and Galloway, and I must say, what a stunning place to visit. The landscape is beautiful, with a view around every corner, the coastline rugged and filled with nature, and birds and wildlife abound. Whilst I did attempt to have a relaxing time as I really did…

I spent a morning in May at a local meadow, photographing these beautiful native orchids. I often think our native botanical riches are a bit overlooked, but we do have a fascinating selection of species here, and I will definately be trying to explore more in the future. The Green-winged orchid is one of around…

Not had much time for photography of late, which is a shame as there is so much to photograph! This interesting creature is a Forest Shieldbug, which hitched a ride on the outside of my car. When we arrived home he flew off onto the wooden fence, against which he was quite well camouflaged. I…

  • Japan – Part 1

Japan. Wonderful, mysterious, so utterly different from my cosy corner of Norfolk. I have been extremely fortunate to visit this enigmatic country recently on a family holiday, a trip of a life-time. Naturally my camera came with me, and naturally, I had to investigate the local wildlife. I’ve a lot of photos, of course, so…

  • Keeping it local

Out and about with my new camera yesterday. Decided to upgrade to the D300s, and I’m really impressed with it. I have to admit I was sorry to see my trusty D200 go, it’s been a real reliable workhorse for me. The D300s is great though, better noise handling and weather proofing, larger LCD screen…

  • Holiday!

Got a week off next week, yippee! Am I going to some far-flung exotic location? Nope. Am I travelling across the country to the wilds of Scotland? Nope! Next week I’m keeping it local – I’m staying at home! Not very exciting? Well quite the opposite actually – I get to spend time in the…
