Peek-a-boo

Over the Fen this morning, couldn’t resist photographing this little rabbit as he peeked out of his burrow at me.

Sunshine and showers kept the Sedge and Reed warblers hiding low in the vegetation, but the Cuckoo was still singing away. Five Roe deer were very camera shy, only the rabbits would let me photograph them today!

Someone very wise once said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. It’s true, and that’s what we do as wildlife photographers. We visit the same spot again and again, hoping for that one moment when it all comes together. The light, the subject – we wait…

Started the day at RSPB Titchwell reserve yesterday, but it was a little disappointing as it was cold and windy and the wildlife wasn’t ‘photographable’. When you see birders carrying telescopes, you know it’s not going to be a good day for a 500mm lens. So on the spur of the moment we decided to…

The slightly better weather meant I could get some more photos, although I’m yet to catch him in the sun. It’s not going to be long before he departs, but…

I’ve not had very much chance to get out with the camera of late, and this weekend wasn’t much better either! With the dull weather I decided to do some work in the garden, and as I was sowing some seeds all the Woodpigeons in the hedgerow scattered, and the small birds dived for cover….

Well the last few days have been pretty frustrating. Attempting to get some more photos of the Turtle dove, but not doing very well! A mix of sunshine and showers have made for interesting and difficult lighting conditions. Here are a few that I’ve managed to process today, still got more to go through though….

Spring is in the air! A lovely morning down on the Fen, misty to start off with and then glorious sunshine. Walking down the path, a pair of Great tits were sunning themselves in the hedgerow. Further along, a pair of Bullfinches – male and female together, flew from the hedge up into a tree,…
