Holiday!

Got a week off next week, yippee! Am I going to some far-flung exotic location? Nope. Am I travelling across the country to the wilds of Scotland? Nope! Next week I’m keeping it local – I’m staying at home! Not very exciting? Well quite the opposite actually – I get to spend time in the locations that I know and love, and hopefully get some great shots!

I’ve got a lot planned for next week, including a few trips up to North Norfolk, one of my favourite places, and I’m also planning a few visits to some very local locations – my local nature reserve and even the footpaths around my home. So – watch this space for regular updates!  Now I’m just crossing my fingers for some decent weather….

What an absolute privilege to have these birds visiting the garden. I can’t believe after all these years I’ve finally managed to get some photos of one! My first meaningful photography trip out this year, and what a beautiful morning. There’s nothing better at this time of year, crisp and frosty, and great light. Nice to get behind the lens again. Visited the Fen (Redgrave and Lopham Fen) this week. Lot’s of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies about, as well as a couple of Kestrels, I had a lovely close encounter with one. Unfortunately I only had my macro lens with me! Here’s a slightly worn Speckled Wood butterfly. (With…

It’s 7.30AM and it’s snowing heavily. I’m questioning my reasoning behind stepping outside with my camera this morning, but with my new found determination to do more photography this year, I know I have to. I’ve been watching the Barn Owl’s on the fen and I know they’ll be out hunting at this time of…
